A Compact Courtyard with Big Impact
Project Overview:
This recently completed project is a testament to how thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship can transform even the smallest of spaces into something truly special. Designed by Luke Marshall, this elegant courtyard delivers a striking visual impact and seamless indoor-outdoor flow, proving that size is no limitation when it comes to quality landscaping.
With a focus on functionality and aesthetic harmony, the space features hand-chipped, random-sized split-faced Endicott stone paving—carefully laid to bring texture, movement, and a natural feel to the courtyard. Planting selections, including fragrant lavender, soft creeping thyme, and the delicate beauty of Oriental Pearl, weave softness through the strong lines of the stonework, enhancing the sensory experience of the space.
A mature ex-orchid olive tree takes centre stage, adding instant character and anchoring the design with timeless beauty. Perfectly balancing structure and lush greenery, this project highlights the possibilities of compact outdoor design—something increasingly relevant for modern homes across the Bayside and Mornington Peninsula regions.
